The Lifelong Readers (LiRe) project aims to ensure children develop lifelong reading habits, and to convince school librarians, teachers and administrators to put reading at the centre of their activities.
With partners from six different countries, the project is creating guidance, training and other tools to create reading-promotion programmes in primary schools. These include summaries of previous efforts in this area and a series of principles on which to base successful reading promotion actions.
Resources for action
The project will initiate reading programmes in schools in each participating country. Training modules for teachers, school librarians and administrators will be distributed widely in participating countries.
These, together with other resources, will be made available on the project website.
