Digital Children’s Folksongs: in tune with learning

This project is designed to motivate young language-learners to engage with learning through folk songs and related activities, in ten different European languages.

It is well known that the earlier a child starts to learn a new language the easier it will be to become proficient in it. This project, running from October 2010 to September 2013, has set out to enhance understanding of the number and richness of other languages, at the earliest possible age, when children start to learn a foreign language. The aim is to involve children in fascinating and engaging activities which will have a positive impact on their learning for a long time.

Striking the right note
It will also respond to the increasing need for materials which directly interest and motivate children to enjoy their learning.

The project will culminate in a concert held simultaneously in prestigious venues in five different countries, which will be streamed live over the internet to audiences all over Europe. All the concerts will feature school choirs, folk singers and screenings of their accompanying concerts, so that each experience can be shared by a very large and diverse audience.
