The EUCIM-TE (Train Teachers for Mainstream Literacy Education) project set out to make school education more inclusive for immigrant pupils by improving teacher training.
The project involved nine partners from eight EU countries: Germany, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Portugal, Netherlands, Sweden, UK, and Slovenia. Together they developed a European Core Curriculum for teacher education and national adaptations. The partners also assessed and published needs analyses for each country involved.
The resulting partnerships established between teacher-training institutions, schools and education authorities should lead to changes in teacher education programmes and state examination standards to incorporate the project proposals.
The two-year project ended in 2010.
