National Reading Plan(Plano Nacional de Leitura; Ler +): is a comprehensive project to promote the development of reading and writing skills and to increase reading habits among the school population. This project involves several stakeholders, such as the local administration, scientific, cultural and educational associations, libraries and the media.

- Disseminates the Portuguese language and culture internationally and manages the Portuguese network of education abroad (from elementary to university education levels).
Littera – Portuguese Association for Literacy(Littera – Associação Portuguesa para a Literacia): promotes education and research in the area of literacy.
