European Language Label




Welcome to the ELL database for innovative projects in language teaching and learning.



This database contains projects that have received the European Language Label since 1999 (for the pilot phase 1998-99, please refer to "The European Label: catalogue of projects 1998-99").

The database aims to inspire practitioners, stakeholders and policymakers by presenting "best practices" in the field of language teaching and learning.

The European Language Label is awarded to local, regional, and national projects that have found creative ways to improve the quality of language teaching, motivate students, make the best use of available resources to diversify the languages on offer, and other innovative initiatives.

I-Voix: an experience of teaching-learning thanks to e-Twinning

The project “I-Voix: an experience of teaching-learning thanks to e-Twinning” was based on the search of correspondence. During the duration of the project, ICTs represented the creative tool to re-create the reality of the school and to work together crossing borders and cultural distances. The project included also a small class of Burkina Faso, with which the learning of the French language and the knowledge of their own culture were shared. The teachers also wanted to work with the pupils at real and concrete activities from the point of view of a collaborative education that used the French language to create, learn and manipulate the ICT tools. The use of new technologies during lessons allowed those involved in the project to develop the skills of a French course in a completely different way as compared to a traditional language course.
