The database aims to inspire practitioners, stakeholders and policymakers by presenting "best practices" in the field of
language teaching and learning.
The European Language Label is awarded to local, regional, and national projects that have found creative ways to improve
the quality of language teaching, motivate students, make the best use of available resources to diversify the languages
on offer, and other innovative initiatives.

HopiTAAL - The language policy plan of the Brussels public hospital network (IRIS)
In the guarantee of the quality of the hosting and care in a hospital, the communication between staff and the patient is absolutely essential. IRIS, the umbrella organisation of 5 public hospitals, has developed a language policy plan to improve the bilingual and multilingual competencies of their 9,000 members of staff. The policy plan is ambitious and creative. One of its innovative aspects is the fact that IRIS engaged 6 internal language trainers and a language policy coordinator who are working full time on the implementation of this policy plan in order to get it integrated in the culture of the 5 hospitals.
