catalogue of projects 1998-99").
The database aims to inspire practitioners, stakeholders and policymakers by presenting "best practices" in the field of
language teaching and learning.
The European Language Label is awarded to local, regional, and national projects that have found creative ways to improve
the quality of language teaching, motivate students, make the best use of available resources to diversify the languages
on offer, and other innovative initiatives.

Label of the day
A foreign language lesson – a lesson of high educational value
Primary aims: making pupils more sensitised to people’s problems; drawing their attention to everyday problems; encouraging them to help other people living next door; developing their sense of responsibility for their own actions; developing an attitude of openness and tolerance towards others.
Other aims: promoting pupils’ activity and initiative; creating real-life communication situations to use language skills; building up pupils’ self-esteem through the development of skills necessary to discuss specific topics; extending vocabulary; developing language speaking and comprehension proficiency.
Description of activities:
We are aware of the importance of activities which have an educational impact on young people. All teachers, and not only form teachers, should take appropriate steps to achieve this. Foreign language lessons are also a good time to educate young people. I
