The database aims to inspire practitioners, stakeholders and policymakers by presenting "best practices" in the field of
language teaching and learning.
The European Language Label is awarded to local, regional, and national projects that have found creative ways to improve
the quality of language teaching, motivate students, make the best use of available resources to diversify the languages
on offer, and other innovative initiatives.

Saxon Fortress Churches in the Sibiu County
A survey carried out a few years ago in our school found that the pupils didn’t know much about the history and the geography of the county where we live,the Sibiu county,about the Saxons who lived in our area for more than 800 years, but they knew a lot of things about other countries and their capital cities. To fill this gap I initiated the project “Cultural Heritage-Saxon Fortified Churches in the Sibiu County” as an intercurricular optional course in English, for 7th graders,to motivate them in learning English in another way than using the regular textbooks,to value the Saxon cultural heritage and acquire geography knowledge in order to use it in writing “child friendly” travel guides or guiding foreign tourists in the area.The project aims at motivating the pupils in learning German,too, because most of the bibliography is in German.
