The database aims to inspire practitioners, stakeholders and policymakers by presenting "best practices" in the field of
language teaching and learning.
The European Language Label is awarded to local, regional, and national projects that have found creative ways to improve
the quality of language teaching, motivate students, make the best use of available resources to diversify the languages
on offer, and other innovative initiatives.

Label of the day
English as a Working Language
Project period: starting September 2001 (not completed with constant success).
Involved languages: English as a working language in text processing (2nd and 3rd classes); economics with official correspondence (2nd class) and during the internship (2nd and 3rd class) for the 'in-office salesman/woman' profession, which takes place during the teaching year. Project objective/s: development of linguistic skills in a subject-specific context and achievement of greater certainty of expression. Project content and description of the innovation: English as a working language in these subjects. We are the only professional school in Austria offering students — through an additional certificate attached to the language acquisition — a competitive advantage in the labour market. Results achieved: in just two years all students have successfully completed the courses and reported back positively
