European Language Label

Welcome to the ELL database for innovative projects in language teaching and learning.

This database contains projects that have received the European Language Label since 1999 (for the pilot phase 1998-99, please refer to "The European Label: catalogue of projects 1998-99").

The database aims to inspire practitioners, stakeholders and policymakers by presenting "best practices" in the field of language teaching and learning.

The European Language Label is awarded to local, regional, and national projects that have found creative ways to improve the quality of language teaching, motivate students, make the best use of available resources to diversify the languages on offer, and other innovative initiatives.

You can search the database according to a number of different criteria:

Drama Workshops in English, German and French

The Act on the Folkeskole of 1993 focuses on strengthening the practical-aesthetic dimension in the everyday instruction. One way of implementing this dimension could be the introduction of drama in foreign language instruction. In drama you work with the spoken language. Working with a drama text induces the involvement of body language. Through the combination of facial expressions, gestures and body language with the spoken language the learning process will intensify. Language and action are joined in the work. Drama requires cooperation, commitment, and attention. The instruction can be differentiated. And last but not least, the work brings pleasure. Every year in the month of May the municipal schools of Aalborg (primary and lower secondary) receive a leaflet inviting classes to apply for participation in drama days at the Drama Centre for Schools.
