European Language Label

Welcome to the ELL database for innovative projects in language teaching and learning.

This database contains projects that have received the European Language Label since 1999 (for the pilot phase 1998-99, please refer to "The European Label: catalogue of projects 1998-99").

The database aims to inspire practitioners, stakeholders and policymakers by presenting "best practices" in the field of language teaching and learning.

The European Language Label is awarded to local, regional, and national projects that have found creative ways to improve the quality of language teaching, motivate students, make the best use of available resources to diversify the languages on offer, and other innovative initiatives.

What is Important to Me?

This project continues a Comenius-partnership with a Lithuanian school. The project was led in English, but now the contact is continued and deepened with the help of a Lithuanian work group. The project connects the learning of foreign languages with art education and is visited by children from all forms. So according to the topic we create a picture and add written comments in two languages and put the text on a tape to send it to our partner-school. In this way we care imaginatively about the development of oral language abilities without using school-books. As well as the topic the exchange motivates the children and spurs on them to understand the language and handle it in a productive way.
