European Language Label

Welcome to the ELL database for innovative projects in language teaching and learning.

This database contains projects that have received the European Language Label since 1999 (for the pilot phase 1998-99, please refer to "The European Label: catalogue of projects 1998-99").

The database aims to inspire practitioners, stakeholders and policymakers by presenting "best practices" in the field of language teaching and learning.

The European Language Label is awarded to local, regional, and national projects that have found creative ways to improve the quality of language teaching, motivate students, make the best use of available resources to diversify the languages on offer, and other innovative initiatives.

School Intercultural Context, a Hanging Challenge: the Formation (Training) of the Professorship for the Treatment of the Second and First Languages

This programme is aimed at training language teachers within multicultural contexts, with the aim of facilitating the integration of immigrant students in our society and achieving intercultural dialogue. Objectives – Ensuring that the teachers are aware of the situation of immigrant students, who must learn a new language and way of life; familiarising the teaching staff with the immigrant students' language (L1), from an emotional, professional and scientific perspective, so that their work in the classroom is more efficient and involving; promoting the use of the European Language Portfolio (ELP) as an essential tool for learning first and second languages; encouraging practices that boost the development of general and communication skills amongst the student body, using creative and innovative approaches; stimulating the integrated learning of language and content (AICLE).
