The database aims to inspire practitioners, stakeholders and policymakers by presenting "best practices" in the field of
language teaching and learning.
The European Language Label is awarded to local, regional, and national projects that have found creative ways to improve
the quality of language teaching, motivate students, make the best use of available resources to diversify the languages
on offer, and other innovative initiatives.

Euro Senior Secondary School
The project has aimed at active bilingualism, international perspective, understanding of other cultures, promotion of regional identity, opportunities for further education both in Finnish and in Swedish institutions of higher education, and education into active multilingualism through co-operation over language and country borders. Finnish students from Tornio (Finland) and Swedish pupils from Haparanda (Sweden) study in the same group. The school has an extensive language programme and native Finnish, Swedish, English, French, German and Russian teachers. Some courses are thus taught in Finnish, others in Swedish and in English. Education into internationality has been stressed. In addition, learning methods have been developed (e.g. language portfolios and "suggestopaedia").
