European Language Label

Welcome to the ELL database for innovative projects in language teaching and learning.

This database contains projects that have received the European Language Label since 1999 (for the pilot phase 1998-99, please refer to "The European Label: catalogue of projects 1998-99").

The database aims to inspire practitioners, stakeholders and policymakers by presenting "best practices" in the field of language teaching and learning.

The European Language Label is awarded to local, regional, and national projects that have found creative ways to improve the quality of language teaching, motivate students, make the best use of available resources to diversify the languages on offer, and other innovative initiatives.

Town (time travel, old stories, work together, new information)

The TOWN project, which was a continuation of the initial and successful project entitled Getting to Know Each Other, involved children with various types of disabilities. Pupils of the sixth to the ninth year of the practical school, who often have problems with pronunciation, spelling and listening, cooperated with a Polish primary school where they were partnered with third-year pupils. The themes for the project were chosen so as to build on the teaching of English in the given period – food, house and home equipment, human body and clothing. While working on the project, pupils implemented a wide range of activities – they created a logo, wrote and translated recipes, discussed town history, drew legends etc. The objective of the project was for sixth-year pupils to acquire basic vocabulary and for pupils of higher years to expand their vocabulary.
