The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a tool for making studies and courses more transparent and thus helping to enhance the quality of higher education.
The use of ECTS credits helps programme design by improving transparency and flexibility in curriculum design and development.
Grade distribution tables facilitate that grades awarded in all subject areas or institutions in all countries of the European Higher Education Area can be properly understood and correctly compared.
ECTS facilitates lifelong learning, open learning opportunities and the recognition of prior learning and experience.
ECTS helps students to be mobile and have their credits transferred and recognised on their return.
