The second policy dialogue with Southern Mediterranean countries on higher education gathered around 90 people such as higher and vocational education policy makers from 9 Southern Mediterranean countries, EU Member States representatives, EU institutions and agencies, and organisations representing universities, students and business.
Discussions focused on the policies and programmes developed in both the EU and Southern Mediterranean regions to:
- improve the employability of young graduates,
- reduce the mismatch between the skills of graduates and the expectations of employers
- ease the transition of young graduates into the labour market.
Lively debates tackled the development of entrepreneurial skills in education and the necessary improvement of cooperation between education institutions and employers.
The meeting was also the occasion to present new opportunities offered by Erasmus+ to support policy developments and reforms in these countries and to foresee new common activities for the next two years.
