The Athens conference was part of a series of activities carried out in the region under the Western Balkans Platform on Education and Training, our policy mechanism with the region.
250 higher education, school and youth stakeholders convened to learn about the latest opportunities for cooperation in Erasmus+. These included:
- capacity-building projects and mobility at the higher education level,
- electronic twinning of schools in primary and
- secondary level and support to youth activities.
The 120 higher education participants were mainly university teachers, rectors and some ministry officials including the State Secretary from Serbia, the Deputy Minister from Albania and three Assistant Ministers from Bosnia and Herzegovina. There were 60 school stakeholders, primarily teachers and directors, and 60 youth stakeholders from the region.
Priority was given in inviting those with little previous experience in EU programmes and those outside the capitals. However, we also included those with successful projects to share their experience.
