PORTUGUAL - Ana

One million Erasmus students : Portugal - Ana I consider that the ERASMUS participation has been very important during all my career and life. In fact, the reference to this program in my CV has been a question in all job interviews and I think it has been seen as an important experience for life.

The ERASMUS participation occurred in my last degree year.

I completed my final project during my Erasmus mobility period and the discussion at the Home University was improved because of my different experience when compared with my colleagues. I subsequently did a Ph.D. at Lisbon University and once more I have used some knowledge from the Erasmus period and human contacts that I made at University of Wien.

I was in a Private Company (Clinical Trials) for one-year and the ERASMUS participation, as well as Congress participations, were the two points most discussed at the interview.

Now I am teaching at a private University (Atlantic University - Universidade Atlântica) and I am starting ERASMUS there. I am the ERASMUS Coordinator and I am always promoting the program among students. As I consider the experience as an improvement in my own life I think I can  transmit this feeling to my students. In any case, apart from all scientific knowledge that we can learn with the ERASMUS program I consider that the most important issue is the human experience and relationships that we create and maintain for life.

I still keep in touch with some friends that I have met during the ERASMUS period and some professional relationships have also been maintained.
