ESTONIA - Lasse

One million Erasmus students : Estonia - Lasse

To study abroad was one of my goals since I started my university studies. At the beginning of my 5th year I got the opportunity to go to Sweden as an Erasmus student. Having been there years before, I left home with high expectations.

Lund University is very old and well known, so it was no surprise that there were a lot of international students. I met a lot of interesting people and made a few good friends there.

The design department had just got a new professor and I took a project with him. The project itself was to design a telephone for a German company. What started out as a school project evolved into an actual design process. The company was impressed with our work and wanted to develop the idea so far that it could actually be produced. So the result is that from the beginning of this autumn, the phone will be sold in stores all around Europe. That kind of possibility would never have occurred in my home country. Even if that had not happened, I still would have left Lund with good memories and being happy that I went there.

My positive experience in Lund encouraged me to try again. So I went to Finland to do my internship. The company I am working at is young, and the people who work there are also young. We aim at producing innovative ideas of how to make life better and easier through design, but we also try to have fun while doing so. Combining our different backgrounds and knowledge, I am sure we will succeed.
