DG ECFIN conducts regular analysis on macroeconomic and financial developments in Azerbaijan.
The EU and Azerbaijan hold regular macroeconomic dialogues in the framework of the Sub-Committee on Trade, Economic and Related Legal Issues. Meetings of the Subcommittee provide both partners with an opportunity to exchange views on their respective economic situations and outlooks, and on the major structural challenges that they face.
The latest Sub-Committee meeting took place in Brussels on 27 June 2014. The European Commission presented inter alia the EU economic outlook based on the latest economic forecast. The Commission also explained the recent changes to the economic governance of the EU and euro area, and presented the latest developments in the areas of monetary policy and financial stability. The Azeri authorities presented their views of Azerbaijan’s medium-term economic prospects. The issues of trade, investment and competition, public finance management reforms, and EU trade-related technical assistance to Azerbaijan, were also discussed.
