Algeria is one of the 16 partner countries whose relations with the EU are framed by the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). While 12 of those countries are already fully participating as partners in the ENP, negotiations on an ENP action plan for Algeria are still ongoing. This country page presents information on DG ECFIN’s activities and economic cooperation with Algeria.
DG ECFIN conducts regular analysis on macroeconomic and financial developments in Algeria.
Through their regular macroeconomic dialogues, the EU and Algeria exchange views on their respective economic situations and outlooks and on the major structural challenges that they face.
The EU held its latest Economic Dialogue with the Algerian authorities in Brussels in October 2015. The European Commission presented the EU economic outlook based on the latest available economic forecast and outlined recent developments in EU economic and financial policies. The Algerian authorities presented macroeconomic developments and policies in their country. The meeting also provided the opportunity to discuss issues of mutual interest, including in particular Algeria’s investment climate and the challenges related to diversifying away from the hydrocarbon industry.
