Communication campaign on the euro in Latvia

Since September 2013, the European Commission's exhibition "the euro, our currency" has been travelling through Latvia. The exhibition takes visitors on the road to the euro around three main exhibition areas: the history of Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) by accession date of EU countries; facts and figures on the euro currency and the EU economic governance framework; and a dedicated area with interactive material for children. This promotional video features the exhibition in its current venue: the Olympic centre in Liepaja, Latvia (exhibition running until 12 January 2014).

In September 2013, the Latvian authorities have launched a mass media campaign to inform on the euro and the practicalities of the changeover. In the TV spot, the introduction of the euro is compared with the laws of nature – everything grows and develops – thus seeing the euro adoption in Latvia as a natural, “evolutionary process”. Euro. One aim is to ensure that prices for consumers are correctly converted at the official rate in a fair and transparent way. The campaign "Fair Euro Introducer" was launched on 12 July by the Latvian government and entrepreneurs. The TV spot informs about the campaign and encourages consumers to shop at locations which have signed the memorandum. “Fair Euro Introducer”
