The euro exhibition was opened in Madrid on 15 April 2009, hosted by the Real Casa de la Moneda, the Royal Spanish Mint. The opening ceremony took place in the presence of over 200 guests amongst which ambassadors and several guests that had contributed to the creation of the euro. The ceremony was also well covered by the national media.

The euro exhibition will be open from 15 April until 14 May from Tuesday to Friday from 10h00 to 17h30 and from 10h00 to 14h00 on weekends. The exhibition is located inside the extensive money museum of the Spanish Mint. Its permanent exhibition complements the Commission's euro exhibition with long dating history of the first coins dating back to ancient Greek times, as well as numerous minting and printing machines.
