André Sapir
Professor of Economics, Université Libre de Bruxelles, and Senior Fellow, Bruegel.
André Sapir is Professor of Economics at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), where he holds a chair in international economics and European integration, and Senior Fellow of Bruegel, the Brussels European and Global Economic Laboratory.
He is also a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), and a member of the European Commission president's Economic Policy Analysis Group.
Prior to that, he spent twelve years at the European Commission, first serving as economic Advisor to the Director-General for Economic and Financial Affairs, then as economic Advisor to President Romano Prodi (2001-2004), and finally as Executive Director of Prodi's Economic Advisory Group. In 2004, he published An Agenda for a Growing Europe, a report to the president of the Commission by a group of independent experts that is known as the Sapir report.
Mr. Sapir holds a PhD in Economics from The Johns Hopkins University, 1977, and is a founding Editorial Board Member of the World Trade Review, published by Cambridge University Press and the World Trade Organisation.
