In spite of hopes that the worst is finally behind us, there will be no return to 'business as usual'. Managing longer-term issues such as ageing are even more problematic in the aftermath of the economic crisis.
14 July 2009 Issue 14 of DG ECFIN's quarterly magazine reports on how the immediate crisis response is evolving into a longer-term path back to economic health. It includes a report on the annual Brussels Economic Forum with an examination of exit strategies and avoiding a repeat of the crisis, and a special focus on DG ECFIN's recent ageing report. Other articles examine the European economic recovery programme and the EU's balance of payments assistance to Member States in difficulties.
