The competition is organised together with the EU Schoolnet and open to pupils aged between 10 and 14 in the euro-area countries and Slovakia.
Economic and monetary union (EMU) - closer to the hearts
The competition aims to raise awareness of the benefits that EMU and the euro have brought to European citizens, while integrating the euro into school curricula.
This age group doesn't remember what life was like without the single currency. By bringing the subject to life via a creative competition DG ECFIN aims to bring EMU closer to the hearts and minds of the younger generation.
A special website for this competition provides material for teachers, sets out the rules and explains how to enter. There are many links to games and information pages on EMU and the euro.
At the end of the competition all the posters created will be displayed in the gallery.

Launch on 15 September 2008
Closing on 31 December 2008
A professional jury will then select a national winner from each country – 16 in all – and a final overall winner. All of them will receive fantastic prizes.
