The authorised consignor (Company A) lodges the transit declaration (NCTS declaration) to the customs office of departure and indicates the transit guarantee number (GRN). The declaration is lodged electronically from the trader's premises.
The authorised consignor (Company A) prepares the consignment on his premises. The goods do not need to be presented to the customs office of departure.
Authorised Consignor: Persons wishing to carry out Community transit operations without presenting the goods and the corresponding transit declaration at the office of departure or any other authorised place may be granted the status of authorised consignor.
NCTS (New Computerised Transit System): Electronic data interchange system which is used for community and common transit as well as in the EFTA countries (Iceland, Norway, Lichtenstein and Switzerland) and for TIR in the Community.
Customs office of departure: The customs office which is competent for the transit procedure
GRN (Guarantee Reference Number): Each community or common transit guarantee will be referenced by an unique Guarantee Reference Number (GRN) in NCTS which will be used for validation. The GRN is allocated by the office of guarantee to identify each single guarantee
