China – Floods – UPDATE (Chinese Government)

  • According to the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs, as of July 17 the recent floods and landslides in the provinces of Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Chongqing, Sichuan and Guizhou have caused the death of 30 people in 46 prefectures
  • 12,000 houses have collapsed, 64,000 others were damaged and a total of 43 million people have been in need of aid or evacuation

 

II. Europe

Italy – Forest Fires (DPC)

  • 9 fires still active since 17 July in the central- southern part of the country
  • 1 completely extinguished with 14 aerial FF means deployed
  • Bagaladi – Reggio di Calabria Province – total burnt area: 742 ha
  • Roccaforte del Greco – Reggio Calabria Province – total burnt area:  680 ha

Spain - Forest Fires (JRC, EFFIS, Spanish authorities)

  • Aragon (Zaragoza) 1 fire still active started on 17 July at 17:54L
  • In Moguer (Huelva) fire under control after 125 ha burnt
  • In Alicante  498 ha burnt      
  • In Andilla 20,000 ha burnt
  • In Santa Cruz de Tenerife (El Paso) a major fire is now under control
  • In Adje/Vilaflor  1 fire still active started on  17 July at 19.02L. 90 persons evacuated 
  • Canary Islands, Teide area – total burnt area: 3,000 ha

Portugal (ANPC Website)

  • From midnight until this morning, Portugal has had 29 fires with one fire still on-going

Greece (Greek authorities)

  • The forest fire at Achaia is still active

Forest Fire risk in Europe (EFFIS)

  • Extreme or Very High forest fire risk in the whole of Portugal, the whole of Spain (except the NW parts) including the Balearic and Canary islands, the Mediterranean coast of France, central and southern Italy including Sardinia and Sicily, Malta, southern Croatia, southern Hungary, coastal Albania, NE Serbia, the whole of Greece, central former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, southern and NW Bulgaria, SW Romania, the whole of Turkey except the NE parts, Cyprus and southern Ukraine

Meteoalarm Europe  - Orange Alerts

  • High temperatures in Cyprus and southern Spain
  • Heavy rain in northern England and southern Scotland
