30/05/2011 - Water still remains the principal basic need lacking in many communities in Kenya. In the drought-affected Kajiado District, the situation has improved thanks to a project supported by ECHO and implemented by the German Agro Action (Welhungerhilfe). This film shows how the villagers learn to build rain-water tanks to ensure on-going and future access to clean water. It helps to avoid the necessity of collecting water often at distant localities, prevents health problems caused by dirty water and builds resilience against future droughts. Clean water is the first step to a better future.
