November 2012 - To ensure regular and reliable maternal health-care, this project by our partners Médecine du Monde (MdM) aims at reinforcing the capacities of emergency maternity wards in three hospitals in the south-west of the Ivory Coast. MdM has put protocols in place, provided medicines and equipment, and trained personnel.
Since the outbreak of violence at the end of 2010, the EU has allocated €119.7 million of humanitarian aid to Ivorian people in greatest need. Up to mid-2011 this aid covered the most urgent needs of health care, food, shelter, protection, water and sanitation. Today EU humanitarian aid is running through a framework called the 'Partnership for Transition' for the period is takes public state services and development donors to prepare to take over in the medium-term. This aid focuses on the improvement of food security, access to basic healthcare and the promotion of social cohesion of the most vulnerable groups of society.
