ECHO's Head of Operations for Latin America and the Carribean explains the fundamental importance of promoting DRR activities in the region, citing the benefits and timeliness ECHO's recent DRR projects in preparing populations for the E-12 tropical depression that flooded many parts of Central America in October and November of 2011. Besides providing 4 million euro in emergency assistance to the populations most affected by this disaster, ECHO invests over €10 million in Disaster Preparedness in the region.
