20/06/2012 - The recent visit of democracy icon Aung San Su Kyi to Mae La camp in Thailand was the first real sign for the refugees that political changes in Burma/Myanmar were really happening. ECHO has been one of the biggest funder of the aid to the 145,000 refugees, providing some Euro 110 million since 1994. Recently, projects in the camps have also helped to provide skills in agriculture, handy crafts, computers and motorbike mechanics to young people. Some refugees now fear that they may be forced to return soon.
