Italy - Contact

Italy has adopted the common European emergency number 112. The number 112 is allocated to the Carabinieri, the military police force, which is responsible for police emergencies. The other emergency services have their own numbers, as indicated below.
Currently, calls received by the Carabinieri response centres and relating to non-police emergencies are forwarded to the appropriate emergency services, such as the Police, the Emergency Medical Services and the National Fire-Fighters Corps, making it unnecessary for the caller to dial a different number.
A translation service in the most widespread European languages (English, French, German and Spanish) is also provided by the Carabinieri response centres, by establishing conference calls including personnel speaking the caller’s language.
The 112 number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Other emergency numbers:
- 113 - Police
- 118 - Emergency Medical Services
- 115 - National Fire Fighters Corps
- 1515 - Forest Ranger Corps
- 1530 - Coast Guard (so-called Blue Number)
