22/03/2013 - Water covers 70% of the earth’s surface and is vital to sustain life. Yet, less than 1% of this is freshwater fit for human consumption. Safe water to drink, wash and cook is indispensable to avoid disease, especially in emergencies or cramped living conditions favourable to the spread of water borne disease such as diarrhoea, cholera or typhoid.
