Emergency Response Coordination Centre from the inside

When a disaster strikes, every minute counts for saving lives. The EU is committed to providing disaster response in a timely and efficient manner and ensuring European assistance meets the real needs in the population affected, in Europe and beyond.

The EU Civil Protection Mechanism facilitates cooperation in disaster response, preparedness, and prevention among 32 European states (the 28 EU Member States plus the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Norway and Montenegro). Serbia is set to join soon.

The Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) is the operational heart of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. Operating 24/7, the ERCC monitors risks and emergencies around the world and serves as an information and coordination hub during emergencies.

On 6-7 May 2015, the European Civil Protection Forum will take place in Brussels bringing together disaster management experts to discuss European cooperation and challenges with a focus on innovation and partnership.
