As natural and man-made disasters know no borders, international cooperation in civil protection is on the increase as various countries and organisations rush to each other's aid during an emergency. The EU Civil Protection Mechanism itself has been active in a number of countries outside EU territory. The Commission has a number of agreements or arrangements that facilitate the provision of civil protection assistance when such situations arise, as well as joint preparedness measures.
