INFORMATION DAY 2009
"How to prepare a proposal"
Calls under the preparatory action on an EU rapid response capability
4 May 2009, Brussels, Belgium
On 4th May 2009, Directorate-General for Environment of the European Commission (Civil Protection Unit) will hold an Information Day in Brussels (Belgium) on "How to prepare a proposal", following the Calls to be issued under the preparatory action on an EU rapid response capability. (1)
Aim
A call for proposals is expected to be published in May 2009 and will be open to any legal person (public or private) established in an EU Member State, capable of contributing to the response to major disasters in the context of interventions of the Community Civil Protection Mechanism. EEA States (Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein), the EU candidate countries and third countries may participate in the proposed preparatory action at their own cost.
The call will aim at testing the range of arrangements that enhance the availability of civil protection resources for the Mechanism interventions. Actions may be relevant to any kind of major disaster, including forest fires.
In order to ensure that the proposals comply with appropriate quality standards and to increase their success rate, the Commission aims to adequately inform potential proponents on the formal and substantial (legal, financial, technical, etc.) requirements and criteria applicable to the Call. The aim of the Information Day is to provide this knowledge.
Furthermore, the Information Day is intended to facilitate networking among the potential partners for the call.
Participants
The Information Day is aimed at stakeholders in the field of civil protection (including national administrations, private sector and non‑ governmental organisations).
