The European Commission received 77 proposals for research projects on energy-efficient buildings design and heat recovery technologies by the Energy-efficiency Call deadline on 4 February 2015.

48 proposals address the call topic "Buildings design for new highly energy performing buildings (EE-02-2015), while 29 proposals seek funding for "New technologies for utilization of heat recovery in large industrial systems" (EE-18-2015). Independent expert panels will evaluate all proposals selecting the best ones for funding. The Commission will then inform all applicants - within 5 months of the Call deadline – whether or not their proposal has been successful.

An indicative budget of €19.56 million is available for these two topics in 2015. Projects will be implemented under the contractual Public Private Partnerships on Energy-efficient Buildings (EeB) and on Sustainable Process Industry through Resource and Energy Efficiency (SPIRE).
