The project Healthy Ageing Supported by Internet and Community (HASIC) started on 1st January 2014 for the duration of 30 months. The project encourages elderly people (65+) in Europe to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle, which includes a healthy diet, physical activity, moderate alcohol consumption and social engagement. HASIC supports elderly people by educating professionals and mentors, creating peer groups and online platform. Together with supporting older people on an individual level, HASIC aims to develop the quality and cost-effectiveness of services of older people by underlining peer-support, by promoting cooperation of regional service providers and by producing policy recommendations.
The coordinator of HASIC is the Turku University of Applied Sciences from Finland and co-beneficiaries are Debrecen University from Hungary, Hamburg University of Applied Sciences from Germany, University of Applied Sciences Utrecht from the Netherlands, University of Castilla-La Mancha from Spain, University of Tartu from Estonia and Norwegian University for Science and Technology from Norway. In addition, HASIC cooperates with various elderly care service providers from all partner countries.
The project HASICS receives co-funding from the European Union in the frame of the EU Health Programme and contributes to the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing. The Kick-off meeting for the project will take place on 5th-7th March 2014 in Luxembourg.
