"Improving Quality in HIV Prevention" (QHP) start of the Joint Action
13 May 2013
QHP started its activity on 1 March 2013 and aims to increase the effectiveness of HIV prevention by using practical Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) tools.
The Joint Action will train at least 60 experts in 25 participating Member States to provide capacity building and technical assistance to HIV prevention programs. It also aims to provide projects who will apply practical QA/QI tools adapted especially for use in HIV prevention.
Based on the results of pilot applications, QHP will produce a 'Charter for Quality in HIV Prevention' with agreed quality principles and criteria to assess and improve quality. A Policy Kit will promote the integration of this chapter into HIV prevention strategies, policies and action plans at the European, regional and member state levels.
The tools, training modules and case studies will be made available, as well as a set of core materials, for application beyond the current scope of the project.
Coordinated by the German Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA) in Cologne, its five core work packages are led by governmental and non-governmental organisations in Belgium, Sweden, Ireland, Germany and the UK.
Associated partners include 12 governmental and 13 non-governmental organisations from across the north, south, east and west of the EU (including Croatia) with another 16 organisations participating as collaborating partners.
QHP’s Kick-Off Workshop will be held in Berlin at the beginning of June. A website will be developed containing further details about the project, how to become involved and remain informed about its progress.
