"Fighting Obesity through Offer and Demand": final publication of the results of the 28-month FOOD project

The FOOD project was co-funded by DG SANCO from January 2009 to April 2011 in 6 countries: Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Spain and Sweden.
It promotes healthy eating habits towards employees, addressing both the offer -individual restaurants- and the demand -the employees-.
The results of the pilot phase in the 6 countries are presented and analysed in a final publication. Starting from the methodology applied to the communication pilots and their evaluation, all steps and actions are described, giving practical and useful information on the approach and outputs.

Directed towards all types of reader, the publication offers precious information on the healthy eating habits of employees and the actions of restaurants for healthy eating. It confirms the strong link between the offer and demand sides that should always be addressed at the same time, in complementary actions.

FOOD became a long term programme in 2012. The publication also presents the transition from the project to a long-term programme with new countries and partners.
