Project DOMAINE contributes to a safe and sufficient blood donor population in Europe with a good practice manual
14 June 2012
Today is World Blood Donor day. Project DOMAINE of the EU Health Programme worked creating a safe and sufficient donor population in Europe by comparing and recommending good donor management practice. The project published a Donor Management Manual in several European languages, identifying and recommending good European practice for donor management, as well as for patients requiring long-term transfusion therapy.
In the EU more than 500 million citizens depend on blood donated by less than 15 million donors. Under this year's motto of "Every blood donor is a hero", the European Commission stresses the importance of safe blood supplies and encourages all European citizens to join the ranks of responsible voluntary donors.
