Visit of Slow Food International to EAHC on 29 February 2012
09 March 2012
Representatives of Slow Food International, accompanied by His Excellency Raffaele de Lutio, Italian Ambassador to Luxembourg, visited EAHC on 29 February. The visit was mainly for introductory purposes, but it also provided a good opportunity for Slow Food International to get information on EAHC's work and explore possibilities for involvement in the Agency's activities.
Slow Food International was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast lifestyles, to support traditional local food and increase people's interest in the food they eat and the impact of their food choices. The organisation has been actively involved in a range of successful campaigns on issues such as raw milk cheese, GMOs, sustainable agriculture and fishing and improving school meals and institutional catering.
EAHC, represented by Director Luc Briol and his colleagues, explained to the delegation the role of Executive Agencies within the overall structure of the European Institutions. The Agency also presented current programmes where opportunities exist for possible involvement of organisations such as Slow Food International.
The meeting was characterised by a constructive and collaborative spirit and provided a platform for a fruitful exchange of views on food-related questions and ideas for further cooperation.
