News - Joining together to tackle HIV/AIDS in Europe

Highlights of new reports on prevention of HIV and co-infections among vulnerable groups such as migrants, drug users, and sex workers. Key tools developed during 2012:

Aids and Mobility - AIDS & Mobility Europe 2007 – 2010Aids and Mobility - AIDS & Mobility Europe, 2007 – 2010 developed a tool kit for training peer mediators on HIV prevention among migrants, mobile populations or ethnic minorities. It also produced a guidebook to support community awareness-raising campaigns on HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections (STI) among young people.

Correlation network - European Network Social Inclusion and HealthCorrelation network - European Network Social Inclusion and Health produced a manual for young people on early intervention, outreach and peer work, hepatitis C treatment and care for people injecting drugs. A social intervention e-prevention tool and HIV/AIDS policy recommendations were also developed.

Imp.AC.T network - Improving Access to HIV/TB testing for marginalised groups
Imp.AC.T network- Improving Access to HIV/TB testing for marginalised groups developed an outreach screening protocol and training manual for HIV and tuberculosis intended for low threshold services working with drug users and migrants.

Bordernet work network - Highly active prevention: scale up HIV/AIDS/STI prevention, diagnostic and therapy across sectors and borders in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and South East Europe (SEE)Bordernet work network - Highly active prevention: scale up HIV/AIDS/STI prevention, diagnostic and therapy across sectors and borders in Central and Eastern Europe ( CEE) and South East Europe (SEE) aims to improve knowledge of the burden brought about by sexually transmitted diseases and of behaviour surveillance among sex workers and other risk groups. Several tools and reports were produced, including guidelines for referral and management of HIV co-infections and the QUIET tool for improving HIV and STI prevention projects aimed at young people.
