Booth 3, 07/11/2013 (11:00-12:30)
For every researcher to be digital within the European Research Area (ERA) will require there to be easy to use integrated digital services targeted to meet the data analysis needs of the individual researcher, and for the researcher to be trained in the techniques needed to fully exploit these services. Such an environment will only be established for every researcher in Europe if there is an ecosystem of public and privately provided services and if we invest in developing the human capital across Europe to use these services.
The focus of the session will therefore be to understand how the ICT infrastructures in Europe need to continue to develop to provide the level of service integration needed to underpin the ERA and what are the barriers to such integration. Understanding this issue is key to understand how rapidly the Innovation Union will develop in research disciplines that are becoming dependent on large-scale data analysis – the big data challenge.
