Eco-systems for user-generated mobile apps

Booth 2, 07/11/2013 (16:00-17:30)

Users without programming experience are able to innovate their own mobile apps through a number of "app building toolkits". Public "Open Data" is emerging allowing for service (app) development. Internet-of-Things sensors and actuators are becoming cheaper and more accessible for service innovation. However, it is not obvious how users can monetize on these services. Web applications are easiest to create, but do not have a recognized market place. Creating apps for iOS or Android usually takes some programming skill. Open Innovation derives strength from the crowd, but how to create economic values?

The session will look into possibilities for end users to innovate mobile apps and and how to create value, economic or other. The SATIN toolkit () is shown as an example of easy-to-use toolkit for app development - enabling users to create apps in less than 20 minutes. Similar projects will be invited to the session to share their experience.
