ICT 2010

R&D on European satellite navigation programmes

T 004, 28/09/2010 (16:00-17:30)

Enhanced co-operation between the ICT and GALILEO communities can accelerate the innovation process and bring new products and applications to the market.

The third FP7 call for proposals on applications for European satellite navigation systems (GALILEO and EGNOS) will be published on 31 July 2010 with a deadline of 15 December 2010. Worldwide, 75% of satellite navigation applications use ICT technologies. The most popular of these, such as personal location-based services or car navigation, are based on ICT devices and rely on telecommunication networks for data exchanges. This session intends to present European Commission expectations regarding the third call, advertise it to the ICT community and encourage active co-operation with the GALILEO community. Although this is intended for the ICT community as a whole, there will be a special focus on SMEs.

Seems like a very interesting session. I am very interested to learn more about the expectations of this call. Will there be a follow-up event?

Boris KENNES, 26/08/2010 11:24

In response to Alexandru, for more information on the call on satellite navigation, please see: or A dedicated information event will be organised on September 22nd in Brussels.

The session looks really interesting. It would be also a good thing to define "integrated systems" (sattelite & inertial). Such hard & soft has been intensively developing for many customers (both in MiniEMS and MicroEMS variants).

I will attend as a representative of the Liaison Office Argentina – European Union (ABEST II) from the Ministry of Science, technology and Productive Innovation (MINCYT). This meeting will be a good opportunity to enhance effective cooperation among R&D stakeholders from Latin America and Europe. Our main goal is to promote the Argentinean well-known capacities in Satellite Communications, looking for opportunities in international activities and support actions.
