SH/SG: Smart Houses interacting with the Smart Grid

This is a technology or research stand, located in Zone R3 - Green ICT. Stand number: R3-07

Smart houses and smart grids interact in the SH/SG project to achieve energy efficiency and sustainability.

This exhibit will demonstrate just how decentralised energy management can help avoid peak loads, thereby enabling the consumption of more renewable energy. Variable electricity tariffs and real-time prices provide incentives for customers to consume energy at times when much more renewable energy is available. ICT links all the elements of the system. The smart house/smart grid concept also features the energy management framework that was developed by the ‘open gateway energy management alliance’ (OGEMA). The technology is being field-tested in three countries (Germany, Greece and the Netherlands). Visitors to the stand will learn about the project’s vision of a future smart grid and the field trials.
