Network technologies to support ever-evolving media applications and the delivery of challenging content come up for discussion.
The focus is on architectures, techniques and platforms for the support, by future networks, of advanced user-centric media applications and the seamless delivery of content, including text, images, audio-visual streams and 3D media, virtual and augmented worlds and games. Network problems posed by distributed, interactive media applications will be examined, along with potential solutions. Topics covered will include research challenges in media networking, and architectures to support highly demanding media applications. An interactive panel session will discuss the pros and cons of evolutionary versus disruptive network solutions and the relationship between innovative business models and new architectures and standards.
