Digital Public Services - Cross-border Pilots (LSPs)

The "Large Scale Pilot" projects develop practical solutions tested in real government service cases across Europe.

Large Scale Pilot projects (LSPs) bring together public authorities, service providers and research centres across the EU to help deliver public services on-line, and to make them accessible to citizens and businesses throughout Europe.

Five such LSPs are currently running:

  • e-CODEX - making justice faster
  • epSOS - making healthcare better
  • STORK 2.0 - making access smarter through a single European electronic identification and authentication area
  • PEPPOL - making procurement better through seamless cross-border eProcurement
  • SPOCS - making business easier by using e-Documents to support the interoperability of services

Run largely with and/or by the EU's Member States, the pilot projects develop practical solutions tested in real government service cases across Europe. These practical solutions will help make cross-border government services a reality and enable diffrent pubilc authorities across the EU to communicate with each other digitally despite their different national technical specificities & languages.

These solutions are bringing down the digital borders in Europe, many years after the physical barriers were already removed.
