There is an urgent need to educate citizens and end-users about energy consumption and how they can manage their impact on the environment. Policies providing the general public with greater access to information about individual and community energy consumption patterns (e.g. Open Data policy) represent a necessary step to guarantee long-term behavioural changes in this direction.
This refers in particular to energy data consumption issues (Who owns the data from my smart meters?) as well as to energy data accessibility issues (Who can access the data from my smart meter - possibly in anonymized form?)
