Franco ACCORDINO registered to attend the ICT 2013 Event
Franco Accordino is the Head of the Task Force “Digital Futures” within the European Commission's Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology.
Digital Futures is a participative visioning exercise aiming to devise 2050’s scenarios and policy ‘routes’ underpinned by the long term advances of ICT.
Before becoming task force leader, Franco worked as Director's Assistant, mainly on the development of a vision and strategy for future ICT, with particular focus on:
- Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) and science-driven ICT research
- e-Infrastructures, including research network, supercomputers, clouds, grids and data infrastructures and virtual research communities
- Future Internet, including the Future Internet Public Private Partnership, Future Internet Assembly, the Future Internet Forum (FIF), and the FIRE initiative
- ICT trust and security.
In FP6 (2003-2006) Franco has been a scientific officer in the area on Grid technologies, Service Oriented Architectures and Network Centric Operating Systems.
Before joining the European Commission, he worked at the ETHZ/CSCS National Supercomputing Centre of Switzerland, at Consorzio Pisa Ricerche and at the National Research Council of Italy where he conducted research on formal methods, languages and tools for concurrent systems and protocol specification. He has a long-standing experience in several information technology fields, including formal methods and software engineering, grid and distributed systems, operating systems, web-based applications and services and knowledge discovery in databases.
